SG ++*B Old Mountain Farm Stag
“Stag” was my idea of the perfect buck. Athletic, long bodied with flat bone, very wide open ribbing, wide, long rump with high thurls and the correct slope from hips to pins, straight front legs and feet with lovely rear leg angulation, smooth short hair coat, nice depth of body, perfect head with wide, deep muzzle and full and flaring nostril, big expressive eyes and a gentle laid back personality. I always referred to him as the “benevolent boss”. He was the “baby buck” sitter. I could trust him to maintain a quiet, pleasant atmosphere in the buck pen. He consistently put a stamp on all his progeny; one of long lean, dairy elegance and gentle, willing personality.
Stag’s four most notable progeny are: his son,;“Old Mountain Farm Brainstorm” who was the 2017 ADGA Spotlight Sale buck that sold for $10,400.00, His son;
SG+*B Old Mountain Farm Bold Elk” who was the 2018 ADGA National Premier Sire. His grand daughter; “SGCH Old Mountain Farm Merriment” who was the 2017 ADGA National Champion Senior Doe & 2017 ADGA National Best Udder Doe, and last but not least his grand daughter “SGCH Old Mountain Farm Shy Elk EEEE 92” who was the 2018 ADGA National Reserve Senior Champion Doe”. We will always miss him and mourn his passing but will continue to see his stamp in our herd and in many other herds throughout the country. Stag was a good friend and we will always respect him for so many reasons. He will be a hard buck to replace and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
